Letter/communication to Jack Houser from Keith Ives (currently in Haiti)

Jack,

Thank you for the email, encouragement, & advocacy within the club for these two great organizations. I am sorry for the delayed response, but my access to the internet (and spare time) is a bit limited here. This week will mark the completion of my first month here in Haiti. Like any new position, I am slowly getting comfortable with my responsibilities. I am coordinating logistics, and water/sanitation for a large orthopedic hospital that Doctors w/out Borders built in an old Coca-Cola warehouse. Our patients are all people received severe orthopedic injuries during the earthquake. Many of them have lost limbs, but with prosthetics & physical therapy they are regaining there mobility. You would be amazed by the ingenuity and creativity of the team here.

It has been exciting to drive through the city and see the Rotary logo from time to time. I have seen the tents from Shelter Box in use! It has been 6 months since the earthquake & so many people are still struggling to get by. Thank you again for your support and encouragment of me, the Rotary Club, & humanitarian efforts around the world!

Please find contact information for the two organizations below. I do not know the MSF contact personally, but her name was given to me as a good point of contact in the NYC office for such things.
