DMH Rotarians Host a Valentine Bash at the Barth!

Our long time friends residing in the Barth Hotel were ready to greet the ten Rotarians this past Friday. We all enjoyed the time together with cake, cookies, punch and a great singer/guitarist, Hal Mortensen, who is their favorite entertainer.  New friends were made, new dancers were recognized, and a great time was had by all.

The residents of the Barth are living on very small incomes, and many are disabled. This facility, part of the Senior Housing Options, is one of 22 similar residential buildings throughout Colorado.

As had been publicized at our Club meetings for the past month, we were expecting to see Linda Sue and Jimmy execute their new dance steps.  I am very sad to report that Jimmy, who collects aluminum cans, had discovered a new girl friend in his rounds, and was unable to get to the party.  At last report, Linda Sue was heartbroken, and admitted this was the first time she has ever been stood up!

In all seriousness, the Barth residents and staff greatly appreciate Denver Mile High Rotarians’ contribution to bringing cheer to these people.  A number of Rotarians present on Friday are thinking of ways our Club might provide some meaningful activities for the residents.  We will keep everyone advised.

Thanks to all who participated with cookies, dancing and talking. It was a great afternoon.
